basic types of photography

There are many different types of photographs, many give off different feelings and thoughts. its said a picture can hold a thousand words and this is very much true. here i will be showing a few types of photography that you probably see around in your day to day life.

Portrait photography

Portrait photography is mainly of one subject or a group of people. These photos normally express feelings, emotions, mood and expression. A lot of portraits are in black and white, this tends to be because it gives off more feeling and the contrast in back and white brings out

Here is a photograph with two subejcts, although most portraits have a singular subject you can still effectivly have more than one. In this image one can clearly see the emotion of the child as he is happy with a younger sibling. The fact that it is black and white shows great contrast and highlights the lit areas as well as the darker spots in the facial features etc. the photographer who is Jared Platt is a professional photographer who runs  private workshop and imaging consultant. he has worked with studios and business around the world and is very good at what he does.

Here is another portrait photograph this time with color. This is a world famous picture taken by the journalist Steve McCurry. This photograph became famous around the world as it was put on the front cover of the June 1985 edition National Geographic magazine. At the time this girl aged 12 years old was a refuge in Pakistan due to the soviet occupation of Afghanistan, since then the photograph has been known as 'The Afghan girl'. This photograph has been compared to the Mona Lisa and many other paintings due to the in depth emotion as well as the dawning green eyes which has been said to show the tragedy and pain of the whole ordeal, A life revealed.


Landscape Photography

Landscape photography are mainly pictures that explores many different enviorments and places around the world, these photos share the conventions of being vast and very long. Most concentrate on nature which has an astounding effects like large towering mountains, vast plains of grass, dense forests full on tree's etc. In landscape photography lighting is immensely important as it amplify the feelings a person feels when observing the image. it also highlights textures and small details which are important to observing the landscape. Due to this the sky is an essential aspect to Landscape photographer as the clouds and weather
